The Game of Thrones-Inspired Tour of Ireland & Wales
May & October 2016 & 2017
As most fans know, Game of Thrones is filmed all over the world, but Belfast in Northern Ireland is where the hit HBO series' studio is located. The coast and country side around Belfast double for key locations in the show, including coastal waters frequented by House Greyjoy, Melisande and Davros.
What fans may not know is that Game Of Thrones author, George R. R. Martin was inspired by a broad range of Celtic history and lore in creating the worlds of Westeros. And no country offers more mythical and historic Game of Thrones' parallels than Wales. With more castles per square mile than any other country, Wales is the world's castle capital and its national flag features a fiery red dragon.
The tour takes you to both the real life filming locations of the show in Ireland and many historic places in Wales that inspired Martin and his literary muse, J.R.R. Tolkien, author of Lord of the Rings.
